On October 29 and 30, researchers, research centers, companies, and experts in renewable energies, hydrogen, and energy transition will gather in Algeciras to analyze the latest advances, challenges, and opportunities on the path toward defossilization of the industrial and port sectors.
The I RH₂Enovables Conference for Industrial Defossilization, RH2EDIN 2025, organized by the Technological Campus Foundation (FCTA) and the University of Cádiz (UCA), through the Vice-Rectorate of the Bahía de Algeciras Campus, and in collaboration with the Higher Technical School of Engineering of Algeciras (ETSIA), will focus on six key areas: advances in solar and wind energy; emerging renewables; renewable H₂ production; H₂ valleys and corridors; advances in H₂ storage; and Power-to-X technologies.
The Vice-Rector of the Bahía de Algeciras Campus, María de la Luz Martín Rodríguez, emphasized that “this Conference is a firm commitment to the challenge of energy transition, the greatest opportunity for the industrial sector to become more sustainable,” adding that “decarbonizing industry is not a cost, it is the key to ensuring competitiveness and sustainability.” In this regard, according to the Vice-Rector, “RH2EDIN 2025 will be the meeting point for researchers, alliances, and a laboratory of ideas where everyone’s contribution is essential for this energy transition.”
The program, which will take place simultaneously in different spaces at ETSIA, the Conference venue, consists of three plenary lectures by renowned experts, several scientific communication sessions, and a gala dinner to be held on the first day at the conclusion of the afternoon session.
The first plenary lecture will be the opening address, delivered by Vicente Cortés, co-founder and Honorary President of INERCO, entitled European Industry at a Crossroads: Energy Transition and Competitiveness. The other two plenary speakers will be Javier Brey, President of the Spanish Hydrogen Association, and Francisca Segura, Professor at the University of Huelva and researcher at the Research Center for Technology, Energy, and Sustainability.
For this event, the organizers have received funding from the Provincial Council of Cádiz through DipuInnova Plus 2025 and sponsorship from numerous companies and entities such as Moeve, Acerinox, the Port Authority of Bahía de Algeciras, Evos, H2SITE, the Association of Large Industries of Campo de Gibraltar (AGI), and the specialized journals Energies and Hydrogen published by MDPI.
